Identify the state regulator, distribution company, consumer category and sanctioned load. A single India-wide household tariff would hide material differences.
Use the residential category and tariff order applicable to the distribution company and bill dates. Energy blocks, fixed charges and sanctioned-load rules can change the formula. A tariff found for another city or consumer class is not a substitute for the account’s schedule.
Separate energy from adjustments
Copy the units, billing days and current charges. Inspect fuel or power-purchase adjustments, taxes, duties, subsidies and fixed charges separately. Do not treat an unpaid balance or security deposit as electricity consumed in the current period.
Model only what you have documented
The workbench supports flat, block and time-period energy with fixed amounts. It does not automatically determine subsidy eligibility or reproduce every state tariff order. Use a manual scenario if a specific schedule has not been imported, keeping unmodelled charges and assumptions visible.
No numeric tariff presets are imported for this market yet. Start with a current bill or written supplier quote. A country guide is not a live rate feed.
Questions, answered.
Is a unit of electricity the same as a kWh?
For a bill expressed in kWh, enter that metered energy quantity. Check the actual unit on the statement and convert MWh to kWh when necessary.
Will the calculator determine my subsidy?
No. Confirm eligibility and the applicable amount from the current official rules and statement, then enter a documented credit in the relevant scenario.
